Terms and Conditions

  • No aggressive dog will be allowed to stay at Star Paws.
  • All dogs over 6 months must be neutered or spayed. We may allow some dogs to extend sterilization till 8 months but only after discussion with Star Paws management. Dogs must be spayed or neutered in order to keep the peace in our facility as some “alpha” dogs can be more aggressive towards non fixed dogs as they feel that their position is threatened. Non fixed dogs tend to not want to take any dominant position in the pack. On the first day of daycare we will test your dog and if it is able to fit into the Star Paws pack.
  • We ask that on the first day, your fur-baby be dropped off at 7.3am so that they can meet all the dogs one by one and not get thrown into a pit of dogs that they do not know as this will make them uncomfortable and they may learn to associate daycare with stress. We try and make the meet and greets as stress free as possible.
  • Please try and not excite your babies on the way in or out of Star Paws as this will excite all the other dogs and all the noise can lead to the environment being stressful for some dogs which may lead to misplaced aggression.
  • We run the daycare by a strict schedule so we ask that your babies are not picked up during certain times of the day unless by prior arrangement. Nap time is from 11am-1pm and we ask that during this time no dogs are picked up.
  • Please bring along an updated copy of your dog’s vaccination papers. Your dog will NOT be able to attend Star Paws without it. It is compulsory that you vaccinate your dog against Kennel Cough before bringing him to daycare.
  • If you would like your baby to wear a jacket or jersey at daycare please make sure it is not an expensive one as we find that it gets damaged during play. We recommend the fleece jerseys.
  • Food for your dog must be provided. Most owners feed their own dogs in the mornings and evenings, and Star Paws feeds at 13:00. Please bring a clearly marked container with your dogs’ name on. We feed puppies up to 6 months of age. After sterilization, it’s a good idea to start feeding them x2 a day at home.
  • All dogs MUST be fitted with a collar and tag with the owner’s number. The municipal bylaw states: Every dog of six months or older must be provided with a collar on which, or attached to which, the name and number of the owner appears.
  • Your dog will be tested for social skills on the first day. For obvious reasons, no aggression towards other dogs will be tolerated. Aggressive behaviour will result in your dog being separated from the other dogs or in extreme cases your dog will be removed from daycare. Likewise, aggression towards humans will not be accepted. The purpose of the assessment is to ensure that your dog will fit in with the rest of the pack and doesn’t have any undesirable behaviors that will pose a risk to humans, other dogs, or the daycare. Undesirable behavior includes, but is not limited to, aggression towards any humans or animals, excessive barking or howling, and severe separation anxiety leading to escape attempts or very destructive behavior. Unfortunately, as this is to ensure the safety of all furry charges and the longevity of the business, it is of the utmost importance and we have to be strict.
  • In the event that your dog gets removed from daycare, no refunds will be given. Star Paws will rarely just remove a dog from the pack, we like working with the owners on problems, as they do sometimes arise, although we do reserve the right to remove an animal immediately if it’s a danger to us or the other dogs
  • No needless, continuous barking will be tolerated. This behaviour will be addressed.
  • We will do everything in our power to discuss any issues we are experiencing with an owner, to work together on problem behaviours together with the owner. (for example sudden pacing or increase in barking) we do experience changes in the daycare sometimes as the dogs grow and adjust to the pack. We are here to make the daycare a happy safe place for everyone. Behaviour is unpredictable though, and can result in trying different techniques to eventually find what works for the specific dog. We ask that clients have patience with us in this regard. Every dog is unique.
  • Daycare is not a substitute for exercise, we strongly suggest owners walk their dogs regularly and socialise them outside of the daycare often. The daycare is a pack, and although they all teach each other amazing social skills your dog will still need to meet strange dogs in public places as often as possible. We highly recommend taking your pup to puppy socialization classes, the more you do the better your chance of your dog becoming a well rounded good canine citizen!
  • Please understand that Star Paws is a cage-free service and with that risks are involved and owners are responsible for any damages that result from injuries caused by their dog while at Star Paws. Star Paws will do whatever is deemed necessary for the safety, health and well-being of your dog and owners agree to assume full financial responsibility for any and all medical expenses incurred. Under no circumstances will Star Paws be liable for consequential damages or damages beyond the replacement value of your dog.

Daily Dog Walks

  • All dogs at Star Paws are exercised but must be fully vaccinated and on a regular flea and worm control regime. This is to ensure the safety of your dog.
  • All dogs being walked will undergo an assessment in order to evaluate if any training needs to be done while on walks.
  • All dogs will be exercised on a lead unless prior agreement has been reached with Star Paws Doggy Day Care.
  • The walker will apply personal judgment and cut short a walk if necessary because of extreme weather conditions (ie, heat, thunder storms) for the safety of both the dogs and the walker.

  • Daycare days need to be paid for in advance unless by prior arrangement with the management of Star Paws doggy daycare.
  • Sleepovers need to be paid for prior to the stay unless by prior arrangement.
  • Payment can be made via cash, EFT, or card.
